Godzilla is four teenage rockers with a whole lot of raw talent full of original songs. The band was formed early 2011, and not 10 months on, they have achieved feats that exceed their age, and, others' expectations.
Mature beyond their average age of 15 years old, the boys jam like seasoned adult rockers with their energetic take on Rock and a bit of Alternative & Pop-Punk.
The boys won top prize in the inaugural School House Rock competition where twenty bands from different international schools competed. With 9 original songs and counting, Godzilla is looking to progress through the local ranks and emerge to be one of Singapore’s top bands.
With their winning combination of adorable looks and awesome rock sounds, the band has won over some hardcore fans, and has started a Facebook fan page and YouTube channel where they post updates, gig details and performance videos.
Godzilla plays and writes pop-punk/rock songs and love to play live at any opportunity, with experience from playing many live shows including competitions and festivals. When writing songs, the different musical tastes/influences of each band member have an effect and is shown through the final product. When not performing or songwriting, they are discovering new ways to improve as musicians and enhance the large number of songs they have.
Tejo D'Cruz (Lead Singer/Guitarist) is a Sri Lankan Guitar God. Without him the band's sound would be incomplete. When performing Tejo is always full of energy no matter the crowd and always shows how much he loves music, and his look of a tiny child is doesn't not change the power he delivers through singing in each performance.
James Barker (Lead Guitarist) is a Korean love demon. He specialises in making the music punchy and thick with his funky scales and drop D tuning. On stage he is energetic and isn't afraid to show the crowd what he can do with his piece.
Rino Darusman (Vocals/Bass) is a tremendous bass player as well as vocalist. Hailing from Indonesia, Rino has acquainted himself with a large amount of instruments throughout his life, playing the guitar, piano, and drums, among others. He finds time for the band in addition to his own solo YouTube videos that he updates. Incorporating Rino into the band as a singer has really taken a turn for the good in terms of songwriting, and allows us to make our tracks more interesting and do things that wouldn't be possible without two vocalists.
Shaun Sloane (Drums) is the Japanese backbone of the band, on stage and in the song writing process. Being the main lyricist, he has huge influence on how the songs sound and delivers kick-**** drums beats. His confidence has started to grow as a performer and Shaun is growing as a drummer and musician after each show. One only can wonder how he keeps his hair in such perfect shape on stage while simultaneously beating the crap out of the drum kit he is using.
