In April 2009, Dropbeat Heartbeat aka DBHB, was formed by its members; Matin, Ro and Mustaqim. They were focused on their acoustic sound and was highly influenced by artists such as Never Shout Never, Boys Like Girls and Mayday Parade. Loads of original songs were written, but none of them were recorded professionally. With a home- recorded song titled ' A Date In My Dreams', DBHB spread that song and received positive feedback on their sound.
In 2010, Dropbeat Heartbeat won the runner up for Nanyang Polytechnic Jam Band Competition. That was surely a way to kick off the start of a great year.
As time goes by, Dropbeat Heartbeat's direction changed, wanting a lot more electrifying live performances. They had to lose Mus in 2010, but then, new members were added to their line up. With the current line up standing as Ro on vocals, Matin on guitar, keyboard & backup vocals, Khairil on guitar & backup vocals, Sham on bass and Edmund on percussions.
2010 was a year that Dropbeat Heartbeat gained more media and exposure. With their 98.7FM Radio Interview and a studio recorded single titled 'Wherever You Go', they bursts out of their expectations and began to write more and more music. Breakout Band Competition was another win for us and it raised the bar of the band's exposure.
The band also played on extraordinary venues such as the Esplanade, Singapore Flyer and not forgetting The Substation along with other great local bands such as Plain Sunset, Caracal, I Am David Sparkle and Cesspit.
In 2011, they were invited to play at Republic Polytechnic Open House and it was honestly a great and wonderful experience.
Currently, the band is writing and will hopefully record it. The band is also planning to release an EP by the end of 2011.
